Bio
Hannah Asbeck is a multimedia artist born in Maryville, Illinois and lived most of her life in southern Illinois. She currently resides in Caseyville, Illinois. Asbeck will receive her Bachelor of Fine Arts in photography from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in May of 2026. She has been president of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Photography club, treasurer of Sculptors at Wagner, and is currently a member of the Society of Photographic Educators. She is both the recipient of the 2025 and 2026, Dr. Orville Joyner Photography/Digital Arts Award.
Asbeck draws inspiration for her work through her own experiences growing up as the daughter of a pastor in the Midwest. Her work focuses on themes of religious critique, family dynamics, generational curses, and domesticity. She utilizes a multimedia approach exhibiting both alternative processes of photography, instillation, performance, video, and digital photography. Asbeck’s work can currently be found on The Midwest Center for Photography’s online juried gallery, with an in person showing forthcoming in March of 2026, and well as in a forthcoming group show at the Cedarhurst Center for the Arts Gallery in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.
